The Lipitz Center is a finalist for a British Medical Journal award: The Roger C. Lipitz Center for Integrated Health Care in the Dept of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has been selected as a finalist for the British Medical Journal's Getting Research into Practice Award for its work on the Guided Care Medical Home. Quality data published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine (Boyd CM et al): After 18 months of a randomized controlled trial, Guided Care recipients rated their primary care significantly higher than usual care recipients with regard to coordination with specialists, support for self-management, and help received with setting goals, making decisions, and solving health-related problems. Guided Care patients were also more likely to rate as "excellent" or "good" the time they had to wait for an appointment when they were sick and their ability to get phone advice. Chad Boult has been awarded a Health and Aging Policy Fellowship funded by the Atlantic Philanthropies. He will serve his fellowship at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, working in the Office of Research, Development and Information (ORDI) and the Center for Medicare Management (CMM), see article for details.

$1.7 Million Grant Received to Assist Practices in the Medicare Medical Home Demo. The Roger C. Lipitz Center for Integrated Health Care at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health received a $1.7 million grant from the John A. Hartford Foundation to help medical practices qualify for and participate in CMS's three-year Medicare Medical Home Demonstration project.
